An independent, non-commercial hobby project that turns Florida's public scratch-off data into something you can actually read — odds, remaining prizes, expected value, winners, and retailers.
Where the numbers come from
- Games, odds & prizes remaining — the Florida Lottery's own public game data feed, refreshed nightly. Every prize tier's odds, total, remaining, and paid counts are theirs, unmodified.
- Winners — the Florida Lottery's public "Top-Prize Winners with Retailer Information" reports, parsed automatically. Recent winners of $250,000+ may show as anonymous for 90 days under Florida Statute 24.1051, then their names appear.
- Retailers — the Florida Lottery's public store locator, sampled statewide (13,500+ locations).
- Home/store locations — mapped to city/ZIP centroids (GeoNames); county populations are U.S. Census estimates.
How the analysis works
- Expected value (EV/$) is the average payout per $1 for a random remaining ticket. Every game is negative-EV; the best sit around $0.80–0.92. Figures use advertised face values — most jackpot winners take the ~63% cash option, so real returns run lower.
- Estimated tickets are inferred from each tier's
odds × prize count(robust to missing tiers). Games with decommissioned/degenerate odds tables are shown without EV. - Retailer "lift" is winners ÷ that chain's actual store count, versus the statewide average. It's a sales-volume proxy, not luck — every ticket is independent and random. No store or town is "due."
The Value Score (open formula)
Each on-sale game gets a 0–100 score — unlike other sites, the math is public:
- 45% — current expected value per $1 (scaled 0.55→0.95)
- 20% — "profit odds": the chance one ticket pays back more than it cost (design odds, tiers above ticket price)
- 20% — freshness: % of total prize value still unclaimed
- 15% — jackpot health: share of advertised top prizes still out there (zero if none — those games are capped at "Avoid")
Bands: 70+ Excellent · 55–69 Good · 40–54 Fair · under 40 Avoid. The score ranks relative value only — every scratch-off remains negative expected value.
The honest disclaimers
Not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Florida Lottery or the State of Florida. This is a fan-made statistics project. All game names and figures are referenced factually from public records.
Odds and prize counts change constantly — always verify on the official Florida Lottery site or app before buying. Nothing here improves your odds; scratch-offs are a form of entertainment with a built-in house edge, and every ticket's outcome is independent.
